A Year in Wood and Resin
It is always a strange feeling when the workshop finally goes quiet.
For the last few months, the air here has been filled with the smell of wood, the hum of the lathe, and the sound of sanding (lots and lots of sanding!). But now, the tools are cleaned and put away, the floor is swept, and it is time to take a breath.
I wanted to take this moment to say a massive thank you.
Whether you commissioned a bespoke chopping board, bought a resin bowl for a wedding anniversary, or simply followed my work on Instagram, your support is what keeps this one-man business turning.
Highlights of the Year
Looking back, 2025 has been a year of unique grain patterns.
-
The Timber: I’ve worked with some truly spectacular Mappa Burr and English Oak this year. Every piece has a different personality, and unlocking those hidden details never gets old.
-
The Hybrid Pieces: Combining natural burr wood with jewel-tone resin continues to be a favourite challenge of mine. Seeing how light interacts with the polished resin against the rugged wood is why I do this.

Looking Ahead to 2025
I am already planning some exciting updates for the New Year. I’m looking into expanding my personalisation options (watch this space!) and sourcing some rare timber that I can't wait to get on the lathe.
For now, I am off to enjoy a mince pie and a rest.
I wish you and your family a peaceful, happy Christmas and a healthy New Year.
All the best, Begat Woodcraft
