About Begat Woodcraft | Handmade in Yorkshire
Welcome to Begat Woodcraft, a one-person artisan studio based in Yorkshire, UK.
I founded Begat Woodcraft with a simple philosophy: to create objects that bridge the gap between raw nature and modern design. In a world of mass-produced uniformity, I wanted to champion the unique character of British timber, specifically the "imperfect" pieces that others might discard.
The Craft: Wood & Resin Fusion My work specialises in Artisan Woodturning that fuses traditional English Oak and Burr wood with high-clarity resin. This modern technique allows me to stabilise the chaotic, beautiful voids in the wood, creating pieces that feel ancient yet contemporary. From handmade wooden gifts to statement hollow forms, every item is turned by hand on my lathe.
Why "Begat"? The name reflects the idea of creation and lineage. Wood is a living material with a history. When you buy a piece from me, whether it’s a 5th Anniversary gift or a bowl for your own table, you are continuing that story.
The Promise
-
Authenticity: Every single item is made by me, in my UK workshop.
-
Sustainability: I always work with ethically sourced timber. My Oak is predominantly English.
-
Quality: I don't use factory assembly lines. Every curve is shaped by eye and hand.
Thank you for supporting independent British craft.
