Style

This is more than just a kitchen essential; it is a substantial, striking piece of British timber designed to bring genuine rustic charm to your home. Whether you are treating yourself to a heavy-duty rustic oak chopping board or searching for a timeless personalised oak board for a loved one, this piece bridges the gap between a robust daily prep tool and a stunning live edge serving board.

The Craft: Handmade Rustic Charm

Handmade in our Yorkshire studio, we select premium English Oak slabs that feature natural "Live Edge" details, meaning we leave the organic, wavy contours of the tree rather than cutting a straight factory line. This means every handmade oak chopping board we craft is completely unique. Dense and durable, the solid oak surface withstands heavy use, protects your kitchen knives, and looks beautiful when used as a rustic cheese chopping board for entertaining.

Featured in the Low Tox Life Guide to Safe Chopping Boards

We are incredibly proud that our solid wood boards have been recognized as a safe, sustainable, and non-toxic alternative for the kitchen.

Many mass-produced bamboo and engineered wood boards are pieced together using hidden, toxic glues (like formaldehyde and cyanoacrylate) that can easily leach into your food as your knife wears down the surface. Plastic boards are equally problematic, actively releasing microplastics into your meals with every slice.

Why our boards are different:

  • 100% Solid English Hardwood: We craft our boards from a single, solid piece of timber.

  • Naturally Antibacterial: You don't need plastic to stay sanitary. Extensive research from the University of Wisconsin discovered that wood is naturally antimicrobial. In their laboratory tests, 99.9% of dangerous bacteria (like Salmonella and E. coli) placed on wooden boards died completely within minutes, whereas they actively multiplied on plastic boards.

  • A Pure, Food-Safe Finish: We seal our cutting surfaces exclusively with 100% natural, food-grade mineral oil and beeswax to protect the wood and your family.

Make it a Custom Chopping Board (+£20.00)

Transform this artisan piece into a truly unique engraved chopping board UK with our precision laser engraving service. We etch deep into the oak, creating a dark, lasting mark that contrasts beautifully with the warm grain.

Because the 5th Wedding Anniversary is traditionally 'Wood', a personalised wooden chopping board makes the ultimate wood anniversary gift or housewarming present.

  • Smart Engraving Placement: We position all engravings in the top right corner. This keeps your names and dates clear of the main chopping zone, ensuring your personalization isn't damaged by knife cuts over time.

  • Choose Your Style: Select from two timeless font options, including our 'Classic Font Style' (perfect for family names, e.g., CLAIRE'S KITCHEN - Cooking up a storm since 2005). Note: We will engrave exactly as you have written it.

Dimensions & Features:

  • Size: 500mm x 300mm (approx. 19.5 x 12 inches). A truly large live edge chopping board with plenty of workspace.

  • Thickness: A substantial 40-45mm thick profile.

  • Stability: Fitted with 4 non-slip rubber feet to ensure it never moves while carving.

  • Finish: Treated with a food-safe oil to enhance the wood's beauty and protect against moisture.

Made to Order – Just for You As a maker of artisan wooden chopping boards, I craft every piece individually in my studio. Please allow 4-5 days for me to craft and finish your item before dispatch.

A Genuine One-Off The images shown are a representation of the design, but because wood is a natural material, your specific custom carving board will have its own unique grain patterns and character. I celebrate the natural history of the wood; grain patterns, knots, and slight variations are not defects, but the very essence of its beauty. All timber is responsibly sourced from trusted UK suppliers.
