Hand-turned in our Yorkshire workshop, this exceptional turned wood vessel showcases the breath-taking relationship between nature and modern craft. The pale, chaotic clusters of the mappa burr form striking 'islands' surrounded by a sea of deep, jewel-tone turquoise resin. The result is a luxury wooden centrepiece that demands to be picked up and held. Every piece of wooden art we create begins with a carefully selected, sustainably sourced burr. This specific piece of mappa burr featured spectacular natural voids that were meticulously pressure-cast with premium translucent resin, ensuring a completely solid, bubble-free hybrid blank. It was then mounted on the lathe and carefully hollowed through a small opening at the top to preserve the magnificent, uninterrupted flow of the exterior profile. It is a genuine wood resin sculpture that honours traditional British woodturning while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.

Craft & Materials

• Material: Sustainably sourced Mappa Burr and premium turquoise casting resin.

• Finish: Sanded to a fine finish and sealed with a durable finish to protect the timber while enhancing the remarkable depth and colour of the resin.

• Process: Fully stabilised and pressure-cast at 45psi in our UK workshop to guarantee a flawless, seamless blend between the natural wood and the resin.

• Care: Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the natural vibrancy of the wood. Please note: This is a decorative art vessel and is not designed to hold water.
